In comparison to longitudinal research, it's reported that cross-sectional studies underestimate the age-associated loss in muscular strength ( 1 , 9 , 25 ). When mixed with the observation that the decrease in muscular power with getting old is predominantly on account of a corresponding decrease in muscle size ( 14 , 19 ), it's attainable that now we have underestimated the true impact of aging on muscle mass and distribution. In medical terms, an individual whose physique mass index (BMI) is above 30 is taken into account obese and under 18.5 is taken into account underweight.
